can't make heads or tails of someone/something

原文解釋: unable to understand someone or something

中文解釋: 我們常會擲銅板，然後問要選那一面 head or tail?（正面還是反面）。 

               當然結果不是正面，就一定是反面。若連正反面都看不出來，

              有看沒有懂一頭霧水，摸不著頭緒，就是此片語要表達的意思。 

已下為四個例句:

1. John is so strange. I can't make heads or tails of him.

2. Do this report again. I can't make heads or tails out of it.

3. a. Thanj you for the email, but I can't make heads or tails of the content.

        What did you want to write?

    b. I am sorry, I wrote that in Chinese, I'll rewrite it in English and send it to you! 

4. a. Why did'nt you help that man?

    b. Well, he needed directions but he only spoke German,

        so I couldn't make heads or tails of what he said.
